The Miraculous 4 Quls in Quran: A Senior Strategist’s Guide to Spiritual Protection
In the hustle of modern life, many of us feel a lingering sense of spiritual unrest. Whether it’s the weight of daily stress, the “Evil Eye” (Nazar), or a feeling of disconnection from the Divine, the search for a spiritual shield is universal. You’ve likely heard about the 4 Quls in Quran, but perhaps you’ve only recited them out of habit without truly tapping into their frequency. It’s frustrating to have these powerful tools at your disposal and not feel the immediate shift in your heart or environment.
At Shia Quran Tutors, we’ve helped thousands of students move beyond rote memorization to a state of profound connection. This definitive guide will break down the 4 Qul Surah meanings, their historical context, and how to practically implement them into your life for maximum spiritual efficacy.
What are the 4 Quls in Quran?
The “4 Quls” refers to four specific chapters (Surahs) at the end of the Holy Quran that begin with the Arabic imperative word “Qul,” meaning “Say.” These Surahs are:
Surah Al-Kafirun (The Disbelievers)
Surah Al-Ikhlas (The Sincerity)
Surah Al-Falaq (The Daybreak)
Surah An-Nas (Mankind)
Individually, they are masterpieces of theology and protection. Collectively, they form what scholars often call the “Shield of the Believer.”
1. Surah Al-Kafirun: The Declaration of Faith
This is the 109th Surah. In my years of teaching at Shia Quran Tutors, I’ve observed that many beginners overlook this Surah’s power in establishing psychological boundaries. It’s not just about history; it’s about defining your identity.
Transliteration
Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem Qul ya ayyuhal-Kafiroun La ‘a-budu ma ta’-bu-doun Wa la antum ‘abidouna ma ‘a-bud Wa la ana ‘abidum-ma ‘abadttum Wa la antum ‘abiduna ma ‘a-bud Lakum deenukum wa li-ya deen”
Translation
“ Say : O Al-Kafiroun ( disbelievers in Allah , in His Oneness , in His Angels , in His Books , in His Messengers , in the Day of Resurrection , and in Al-Qadar , etc )! I worship not that which you worship, Nor will you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. Nor will you worship that which I worship. To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism).
2. Surah Al-Ikhlas: The Essence of Tawhid
The 112th Surah is often described as one-third of the Quran. Why? Because it defines Allah in the most concise way possible. If you are looking for a 4 Quls in Quran pdf to memorize, this is usually the first one people master.
Transliteration
” Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem
Qul Huwa-llahu ‘Ahad
Allahus-Samad
Lam Yalid Wa Lam Yulad
Walam Yakul-La-Hu-Kufuwan ‘Ahad “
Translation
“ Say : He is Allah,(the) One, Allahus-Samad ( The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks ). He begots not , nor was He begotten; And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.”
3. Surah Al-Falaq: Protection from External Harm
The 113th Surah deals with the “unseen” evils of the world—the darkness, the envious, and those who practice sorcery
Transliteration
” Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem
Qul ‘A’udhu Bi-Rabbil-Falaq
Min Sharri Ma Khalaq
Wa Min Sharri Ghasiqin ‘Idha Waqab
Wa Min Sharri-Naffathati Fil-‘Uqadi
Wa Min Sharri Hasidin ‘Idha Hasad “
Translation
” Say : I seek refuge with ( Allah ) the Lord of the daybreak, From the evil of what He has created; And from the evil of the darkening ( night ) as it comes with its darkness; ( or the moon as it sets or goes away ). And from the evil of the witchcrafts when they blow in the knots, And from the evil of the envier when he envies. “
4. Surah An-Nas: Protection from Internal Whispers
The 114th and final Surah of the Quran. Unlike Al-Falaq, which looks outward, An-Nas looks inward. It protects us from the whispers ($Waswasa$) that occur within our own chests.
Transliteration
” Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem
Qul ‘A’udhu Bi-Rabbin-Nas
Malikin-Nas
Ilahin-Nas
Min-Sharril-Waswasil-Khan-Nas
Al-Ladhi Yuwas-wisu Fee Sudurin-Nas
Mina Al-Jinnati Wan-Nas “
Translation
“ Say : I seek refuge with (Allah ) the lord of mankind, The king of mankind, The Ilah ( God ) of mankind, From the evil of the whisperer ( devi l who whispers evil in the hearts of men) , who withdraws ( from his whispering in one’s heart after one remembers Allah ), Who whispers in the breasts of mankind , Of jinns and men.”
Why These Surahs Matter: A Practitioner’s Perspective
As a strategist and educator, I don’t just look at these as “verses.” I look at them as a spiritual protocol. In early 2025, a study on the psychological impacts of repetitive Quranic recitation showed that the rhythmic nature of the char qul significantly lowers cortisol levels in practitioners.
When you recite these, you aren’t just saying words; you are recalibrating your soul’s vibration.
The Prophet’s (PBUH) Practice
Authentic narrations tell us that the Prophet (PBUH) would recite the last three Quls (the Mu’awwidhatayn and Al-Ikhlas), blow into his hands, and rub them over his body before sleeping. This isn’t just ritual; it’s a “spiritual armor” that lasts through the night.
Deep Dive: Nuances of the 4 Qul Shareef
The Theology of Al-Ikhlas
Many people think 4 qul shareef is just for protection. However, Surah Al-Ikhlas is the foundation of Islamic metaphysics.
“Say, ‘He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge…'”
The word As-Samad used here is unique. It implies a being who is sought by all, but who needs none. Understanding this “Why” transforms your prayer from a chore into an act of profound awe.

Overcoming the Evil Eye with Al-Falaq
In our experience at Shia Quran Tutors, many students come to us seeking help with “Nazar” (the Evil Eye). Surah Al-Falaq specifically mentions the “envier when he envies.” This is a psychological reality—negative energy from others can affect our focus. Reciting this Surah creates a conscious barrier against that negativity.
Practical Implementation: How to Use the 4 Quls
For Better Sleep: Recite the last three Quls, blow on your palms, and wipe your body. This helps with insomnia caused by anxiety.
During Travel: Recite Surah Al-Kafirun to maintain your spiritual identity in unfamiliar lands.
For Children: Teach your children the 4 Quls in Quran name and meanings early. It gives them a sense of security that God is their protector.
Limitations and Trustworthiness
It is important to be objective: While the 4 quls in quran are powerful, they are not a replacement for medical or psychological professional help. If you are suffering from clinical depression or a physical illness, use these Surahs alongside seeking professional treatment. Islam encourages both spiritual and physical means of healing.
Conclusion: Start Your Journey Today
The 4 quls in quran are more than just chapters; they are a lifeline. Whether you are seeking protection, clarity, or a deeper connection with your Creator, these four Surahs provide a comprehensive spiritual framework.
