اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَأَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ
allahumma inni as'aluka wa atawajjahu ilayka
O Allah, I beseech You and turn my face toward You
بِنَبِيِّكَ نَبِيِّ ٱلرَّحْمَةِ
binabiyyika nabiyyi alrrahmati
in the name of Your Prophet; the Prophet of Mercy,
مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
Muhammad—may Allah send blessings to him and his Household.
يَا أَبَا ٱلْقَاسِمِ
ya aba alqasimi
O Abu’l-Qasim!
يَا رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ
ya rasula allahi
O Allah’s Messenger!
يَا إِمَامَ ٱلرَّحْمَةِ
ya imama alrrahmati
O Chief of Mercy!
يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَمَوْلاَنَا
ya sayyidana wa mawlana
O our master and chief!
إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَٱسْتَشْفَعْنَا
inna tawajjahana wastashfa`na
We are turning our faces toward you, seeking your intercession
وَتَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
wa tawassalna bika ila allahi
and your advocacy for us before Allah;
وَقَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا
wa qaddamnaka bayna yaday hajatina

يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ
ya wajihan `inda allahi
O well-esteemed with Allah,
إِشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ

يَا أَبَا ٱلْحَسَنِ
ya aba alhasani
O Abu’l-Hasan!
يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
ya amira almu'minina
O commander of the Believers!
يَا عَلِيُّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ
ya `aliyyu bna abi talibin
O `Ali, son of Abu-Talib!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi
O Allah’s Argument against His creatures!
يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَمَوْلاَنَا
ya sayyidana wa mawlana
O our master and chief!
إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَٱسْتَشْفَعْنَا
inna tawajjahana wastashfa`na
We are turning our faces toward you, seeking your intercession
وَتَوَسَّلْنَا بِكَ إِلَىٰ اللّهِ
wa tawassalna bika ila allahi
and your advocacy for us before Allah;
وَقَدَّمْنَاكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا
wa qaddamnaka bayna yaday hajatina
and we are presenting you [as our intermediary] for the settlement of our needs.
يَا وَجِيهاً عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ
ya wajihan `inda allahi
O well-esteemed with Allah,
إِشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ
ishfa` lana `inda allahi
intercede for us before Allah.
يَا فَاطِمَةُ ٱلزَّهْرَاءُ
ya fatimatu alzzahra'u
O Fatimah, the Luminous Lady!
يَا بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ
ya binta muhammadin
O daughter of Muhammad!
يَا قُرَّةَ عَيْنِ ٱلرَّسُولِ
ya qurrata `ayni alrrasuli
O delight of the Messenger’s eyes!
يَا سَيِّدَتَنَا وَمَوْلاَتَنَا
ya sayyidatana wa mawlatana
O our chief!
إِنَّا تَوَجَّهْنَا وَٱسْتَشْفَعْنَا
inna tawajjahana wastashfa`na
We are turning our faces toward you, seeking your intercession
وَتَوَسَّلْنَا بِكِ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
wa tawassalna biki ila allahi
and your advocacy for us before Allah;
وَقَدَّمْنَاكِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَاتِنَا

يَا وَجِيهَةً عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ

يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ
ya aba muhammadin
O Abu-Muhammad!
يَا حَسَنُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ
ya hasanu bna `aliyyin
O Hasan the son of `Ali!
أَيُّهَا ٱلْمجْتَبَىٰ
ayyuha almujtaba
O well-Chosen one!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
yabna rasuli allahi
O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ

يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

O Abu-`Abdullah!
يَا حُسَيْنُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ
ya husaynu bna `aliyyin
O Husayn the son of `Ali!
أَيُّهَا ٱلشَّهِيدُ
ayyuha alshshahidu
O Martyr!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
yabna rasuli allahi
O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi
O Allah’s Argument against His creatures!
يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَمَوْلاَنَا

يَا زَيْنَ ٱلْعَابِدينَ
ya zayna al`abidina
O Ornament of the Worshippers!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
yabna rasuli allahi
O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi
O Allah’s Argument against His creatures!

يَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ

أَيُّهَا ٱلْبَاقِرُ
ayyuha albaqiru
O Cleaver [of knowledge]!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
yabna rasuli allahi
O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi
O Allah’s Argument against His creatures!

O Veracious!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

أَيُّهَا ٱلْكَاظِمُ
ayyuha alkazimu
O Suppressor [of rage]!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
yabna rasuli allahi
O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi

أَيُّهَا ٱلتَّقِيُّ ٱلْجَوَادُ
ayyuha alttaqiyyu aljawadu
O pious and magnanimous!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
yabna rasuli allahi
O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi
O Allah’s Argument against His creatures!

O our master and chief!

يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi

أَيُّهَا ٱلزَّكِيُّ ٱلْعَسْكَرِيُّ
ayyuha alzzakiyyu al`askariyyu
O immaculate resident of `Askar [city]!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
yabna rasuli allahi
O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi
O Allah’s Argument against His creatures!
يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَمَوْلاَنَا
ya sayyidana wa mawlana
O our master and chief!

يَا وَصِيَّ ٱلْحَسَنِ
ya wasiyya alhasani
O successor of al-Hasan!
وَٱلْخَلَفُ ٱلْحُجَّةُ
walkhalafu alhujjatu
O descendant [of the Infallibles] and Argument [of Allah]!
أَيُّهَا ٱلْقَائِمُ ٱلْمُنْتَظَرُ ٱلْمَهْدِيُّ
ayyuha alqa'imu almuntazaru almahdiyyu
O Riser, Awaited, and Well-guided!
يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
yabna rasuli allahi
O son of Allah’s Messenger!
يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ
ya hujjata allahi `ala khalqihi
O Allah’s Argument against His creatures!
يَا سَيِّدَنَا وَمَوْلاَنَا
ya sayyidana wa mawlana
O our master and chief!

إِشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ

intercede for us before Allah. (You may now beseech Almighty Allah to grant your needs, and they will be settled, if Allah permits. According to another narration, you may say the following words thereafter)
يَا سَادَتِي وَمَوَالِيَّ
ya sadati wa mawaliyya
O my chiefs and masters!
إِنِّي تَوَجَّهْتُ بِكُمْ
inni tawajjahtu bikum
I am turning my face toward Allah in the names of you [all],
ائِمَّتِي وَعُدَّتِي
a'immati wa `uddati
for you are my leaders and my supporters
لِيَوْمِ فَقْرِي وَحَاجَتِي
liyawmi faqri wa hajati
on the day of my destitution and neediness
إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
ila allahi
before Allah.
وَتَوَسَّلْتُ بِكُمْ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
wa tawassaltu bikum ila allahi
I am seeking your advocacy for me before Allah
وَٱسْتَشْفَعْتُ بِكُمْ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
wastashfa`tu bikum ila allahi
and seeking your intercession for me before Allah;
فَٱشْفَعُوا لِي عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ
fashfa`u li `inda allahi
so, (please) intercede for me before Allah
وَٱسْتَنْقِذُونِي مِنْ ذُنُوبِي عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ
wastanqidhuni min dhunubi `inda allahi
and save me from my sins before Allah,
فَإنَّكُمْ وَسيلَتِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
fa'innakum wasilati ila allahi
for you are my means to Allah
وَبِحُبِّكُمْ وَبِقُرْبِكُمْ ارْجُو نَجَاةً مِنَ ٱللَّهِ
wa bihubbikum wa biqurbikum arju najatan mina allahi
and through my love for you and my seeking nearness to you do I hope for salvation from Allah.
فَكُونُوا عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ رَجَائِي
fakunu `inda allahi raja'i
So, be my hope before Allah.
يَا سَادَتِي يَا اوْلِيَاءَ ٱللَّهِ
ya sadati ya awliya'a allahi
O my masters! O Allah’s intimate servants!
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ اجْمَعينَ
salla allahu `alayhim ajma`ina
May Allah bless you all
وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ اعْدَاءَ ٱللَّهِ ظَالِمِيهِمْ
wa la`ana allahu a`da'a allahi zalimihim
and may Allah curse the enemies of Allah; those who wronged you,
مِنَ ٱلاوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ
mina al-awwalina wal-akhirina
from the past and the last generations.
آمِينَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمينَ
amina rabba al`alamina
